The Ballon d'Or, the most prestigious individual award in soccer, will be awarded at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, France on Monday, October 30, 2023. . Lionel Messi, the Argentine legend and seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, is the favorite to win the award for a record-extending eighth time.
Messi's chances of winning the award were boosted by his performance in the 2023 FIFA World Cup, where he led Argentina to their first World Cup title in 36 years. Messi scored seven goals and provided five assists in the tournament, and was named the player of the tournament.
Other players who are in contention for the Ballon d'Or award include Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Mohamed Salah. However, Messi is the clear favorite to win the award, and would become the first player to win it eight times.
